Bonnyrigg

Bonnyrigg

(Midlothian)

Bonnyrigg was a mining village until it combined with Lasswade in 1929. Lasswade had been, in its own right, home to many prosperous Edinburgh merchants as is evidenced by some large Victorian houses. New housing developments have boosted the economy and visitor attractions include the "Butterfly & Insect World" at Dobbie's Garden Centre, and fine accommodation at the highly respected Dalhousie Castle Hotel. Other holiday cottages and hotels make this an ideal touring base for Edinburgh, Lothians and Borders.
