Aberlady is a coastal village in the Scottish council area of East Lothian. On Aberlady Bay, it is five miles northwest of Haddington and approximately 18 miles east of Edinburgh, to which it is linked by the A198 Dunbar - Edinburgh road.
Aberlady Bay, managed by East Lothian Council was Britain’s first Local Nature Reserve in 1952 - a Site of Special Scientific Interest thanks to its botanical, ornithological and geomorphologic importance. The Reserve can be enjoyed on foot via a picturesque footpath.
In terms of heritage attractions there lies the ruins of a 13th Century Carmelite Monastery towards the east end of the town - a tomb and effigy still remaining.
Aberlady is also surrounded by several well-known Edinburgh golf courses including Luffness, Kilspindie and Craigielaw.
There is plenty of luxurious, bed and breakfast and self-catering accommodation.
